Music As a Medium For Fantasies

Abstract

|
Since the Capurso´s study was made in 1948, many studies, largely based on clinical empiricism rather than scientific means, have shown that music is a helpful tool in relieving symptoms among psychiatric patients.
The authors, however, found the ,evidences that in a young girl, suffering from depressive
neurosis, whose compulsive adherence to music appreciation during hospitalization proved to be nothing but a mean to utilize her fantasies of suicidal rumination and other unrealistic way of thinking.
